Metamask as a wallet and browser extension is compatible with any ERC-20 standard. In the meantime, you will probably use ETH to add your new account, browse the metaverse and start trading for other popular ERC-20 tokens. As you continue down the rabbit hole, you can add custom logos associated with niche projects to your portfolio.

🚨 Please, do your research before adding tokens to your Metamask wallet. As anyone can create ERC-20 tokens, and only interact with reliable and trustworthy projects. 🚨

What if you can’t find your custom token in the drop-down list?

You can always add symbols that don’t automatically appear in the search list provided. This tutorial explains two easy ways to add a custom token to your web wallet.

Once installed, you will see a full icon in your wallet with a non-zero balance.

So! Enjoy viewing all your ERC-20 tokens in your Metamask wallet. Discover more than 100 apps you can use right now.

Pro Tips

  • Create as many accounts as you want in Metamask , but be careful… you can’t delete them. Consider naming your accounts to help you remember exactly how to use them. Having multiple accounts is a good practice. When Airdrops happen, they happen by account, not by identity.
  • Create a new account if you plan on posting it on Twitter for possible Airdrops. Sharing your public address is equivalent to sharing your home address—sharing it with friends is fine, but posting it on Twitter would be unwise. Create a new account to take advantage of incredible airdrop possibilities.
  • If you lose your seed password, transfer your token to a new wallet with a new seed password as soon as possible. Someone might find your seed phrase written on a napkin in your junk drawer, hack your wallet account, and send all your money to their wallet. You cannot reset your seed phrase for technical reasons. So, if you’ve got your seed phrase, consider your digital assets at serious risk. You will need to create a new Metamask wallet and send your digital assets to this space as soon as possible. This means having two wallets at the same time.
  • To do this, you can use a second browser (Firefox vs Chrome) or if your browser supports “profiles”, each profile gets its own extension. So you can open two different wallets in two different windows. Once you have a new profile in your browser, you can install the Metamask extension on that profile and set up a new wallet. From there, you’ll need to create as many accounts as you want, write down their addresses, then go back to your old vault and send all the assets you can. Your tokens in the Ethereum main network wallet will not appear on any network. Only the testnet token (without value) will appear on the testnet. If you can’t find your ERC-20 token in your wallet, don’t panic. Verify that you are on the main Ethereum network.
